Tresemme Naturals Conditioner review!

Product Review: TRESEMME NATURAL CONDITIONER!

If you are looking for a cheapie but naturally inspired conditioner to co-wash with, then I recommend the Tresemme Naturals line:

It seems the big companies are catching onto the fact that less really is more, and we really do not need to have products that are laden down with silicones and cheap fillers for them to be effective!

Great for co-washing!

Not Completely NATURAL!

Ok,  so this conditioner is not 100% Natural but at the price its sold at £5.39 for nearly 1 litre, and I purchased  it the second time around on a 3 for 2 deal at Sainsbury's one day so it was worth it!

Likes:

  • Its light
  • does not strip my hair, (there are some conditioners that do- trust me!)
  • cleans my scalp of oils
  • provides a good amount of SLIP (ability to make your hair easier to detangle)
  • Light moisture infusion
  • Not too many ingredients!

Dislikes:

  • the smell...although not bad not fruity enough for me!

Product facts:

Professional quality, used by professionals

• Affordable

• U.S.D.A. certified organic aloe vera & avocado extracts

Ingredients:

Water (Aqua), Stearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Fragrance (Parfum), Lauroyl Lysine, Caprylyl Glycol, Brassica Campestris/Aleurites Fordi Oil Copolymer, Aspartic Acid, Distearyldimonium Chloride, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Citric Acid, Alcohol, Isopropyl Alcohol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice. USDA Certified Organic Extracts: Aloe Vera, Sweet Orange, and Avocado.

In Summary!

I have been using this light conditioner for co-washing for a couple of months now and I like it, I also use it to wash the kids hair with and it does a great job, I would not use this for DEEP Conditioning, but you could actually use it as a leave-in too, I have done that for a twist out when my hair was out and it worked great, its actually light enough for me to manipulate through my braided hair under the weave and sometimes I will leave it in for a couple of days!

I have not tried the shampoo, it contains SULPHATES, although a lower amount than usual, I just don't do SULPHATES!

Try it and let me know what you think!

My Little Girl wants straight hair??

Does your daughter love her natural hair?

I have a 4 year old and ever since she has been about 2 years old I started introducing her to healthy hair care practices.

Practice makes perfect!

I keep it simple by telling her about the conditioners we use on her hair and why, I have also have gotten her to love her satin headscarf! so much so she reminds me to put it on her head if ever I forget before she goes to bed!

TOPTIP:Maintain a regular routine so it becomes second nature to your child to have their hair treated.

Self esteem:

Our girls are bombarded with images of long straight hair often achieved by the use of exstensions or weaves and wigs, so naturally its what they will gravitate towards, its up to us as parents to create in their minds , a positive self-image of their hair no matter the kink, coil or curl.

Happy little girls with their own natural hair...

Beautiful Kinki hair... ;)

Do you unwillingly neglect your childs hair?

As a mother you have enough on your plate as it is- but please make the time to care for your childs hair now while they are young, see it as an investment into their confidence. No-one wants to commit their child to a life of instant weaves- hair pieces or wigs!

You are the caretaker for your childs hair up until they reach the age of ? well until they understand the true nature of good hair care practices.

Mum's /Guardian's... you need to make sure you do the following to ensure your childs hair stays healthy and strong:

Learn this mantra: conditioner is a curls best friend!!

Condition the hair regularly- x 1 a week :)

Freshly conditioned hair!

Apply a deep conditioning treatment - x 2 a month :)

Shampoo with a sulfate free shampoo- x 1 a month

Oil scalp- (not with any grease :( - x 1 a week

Moisturise the hair daily with a leave-in conditioner and a hair butter/lotion

Healthy moisturised hair in a non-damaging child friendly style

Trim the ends when they become damaged and dry

Let the hair air-dry- avoid blow-drying at all costs!

Apply a satin/plastic cap every night :)

Avoid damaging hairstyles- no exstensions on toddlers please :(

Avoid relaxers, texturisers and chemical softeners! :) (at least before puberty!)

Beautiful Curly hair!

Afro assumptions!!

Do not assume or take for granted, simply because you have had afro hair your whole life you understand what it takes to truly look after hair of afro descent!

Our hair is truly unique and special- teach your child to embrace the beauty of their nautural hair, introduce styles that will not damage the tresses but instead give it a chance to grow, healthy and strong.

The Power of a Deep Conditioner...

Part 1) Deep Conditioning: How to feed your hair?

How often do you deep condition your hair? once every 2 weeks, once a month?
I do it once a week and I attribute this key-step in my regime to keeping my hair healthy.

My motto is: 'conditioner is a curls best friend' make it yours too!

There is no other single process you can do to your hair whether it is relaxed or natural that will:

a) Strengthen it more
b) make it more shiny and
c) make it generally more healthy- than a good old deep condition or DC!

This is one of my favourites!! it strengthens and adds moisture with a great smell too!

How to deep condition your hair?
  • If you want to, you can wash your hair first. I simply rinse it out well and gently squeeze out the excess water with a soft towel, I do not always shampoo before hand- its not always necessary!
  • Generously apply your deep conditioner to damp hair towel blotted hair, slather it on and focus on the ends. Work through with your fingers, or use a wide toothed comb to work through your hair. This is the only time I ever use a comb or brush on my wet conditioned hair. Otherwise, only use your fingers.
  • Place the shower cap over hair, and then put the heating device on your head for a full 30-45 minutes. You need at least 30 minutes to allow the hair cuticle to open fully, and let the conditioner completely penetrate and feed your hair.
  • After 30+ minutes or longer, (you could leave the conditioner on at this point, even all night after heating), take off your cap and let your hair cool for at least 5 minutes. This allows your hair shaft to close again.
  • Rinse hair with warm water until about 80% of the conditioner is rinsed out.
  • Do a final rinse with the coldest water you can stand. This is important to seal your hair shaft and get all the benefits of your deep conditioning treatment.
  • Apply a leave-on conditioner and allow your hair to air dry.
  • Do not wash your hair the next day. Give your hair a break after a deep conditioning for at least 24 hours.
  • I suggest deep conditioning weekly. The week-ends are best for me.

By doing this, your hair will will become healthier and shinier. It will regain its softness, and retain length. Moisture-robbed hair is more subject to breakage and unmanageability.

My 5 ***** Dream Conditioner wish-list:

These conditioners are great for relaxed and natural hair- but you need to fly 1000's of miles to get them as they are not sold in the UK! boo hoo ;(

One of my favourite Dominican conditioners...this will give your hair slip like you have never felt before.

Yet another favourite from the Dominicans- a fabulous product...

This one is out of this world! once you have tried it you will wonder where it has been all your life- it delivers unreal moisture to the dryest hair.

Natural Alternatives:

If your at home and do not have a deep conditioner to hand, then have a rummage around your kitchen cupboard and dig up some of these ingredients to condition your hair with:

  1. Mayonnaise - this is excellent to use as a protein conditioner, add some honey to it to make it super moisturising
  2. Avocado - Mash up one of these with some honey to add some moisture to dry tresses, do not use heat, just cover your head with a plastic cap
  3. Eggs - Whisk up a couple of these to strengthen your strands, do not use any heat- unless you want fried egg in your hair!!
  4. Honey & Olive oil - warm a mixture of these two together, apply to your head and cover with a cap for a super moisturising treat!

The key to conditioning is to ensure to use products that strengthen and moisturise your strands...so if you have no real DC to hand think out of the box or the kitchen to be precise!
